Cason help

Can't find your answer? Email support@askcason.com and you'll hear back from the person who makes Cason, usually within a day. Please don't email ID numbers, account numbers or passwords.

Getting started

What's the fastest way to set Cason up?

Tap Add anything on Today and type or say things the way you'd tell a friend: "Water bill $64 on the 15th every month", "Netflix 17.99 monthly", "Passport expires March 2029". Ask Cason anything with the field on Today, or tap the mic and talk. Then add your insurance policies and household in Vault, and pick the upkeep jobs that fit your home in Home. The readiness card on Today shows what's left.

Can I try it with example data first?

Yes. During setup, or later in Settings › Your data, add the example household. Remove it in one tap from the same place; anything you added yourself stays.

How does the money-leak finder work without my bank login?

Download a statement from your bank's or card's website or app. CSV works best; OFX, QFX and PDF statements work too. Then open it in Cason (Money › Find money leaks, or share the file to Cason from Files or Mail). Cason reads it on your iPhone, lists every repeating charge, flags price increases and overlapping services, and links to each company's cancellation page. It doesn't keep the file. Two or three months of history gives the best results. You can also try it on the home page with a CSV or OFX file.

Does Cason cancel subscriptions for me?

No. Cason shows you what you're paying for and where to cancel it, but you cancel with the company yourself, so nobody else ever gets into your accounts and nobody takes a cut of what you save. When you mark one cancelled, Cason keeps a running total of what you've saved.

Asking Cason

What can I ask Cason?

Anything about what you've saved: "What's due this week?", "When does my passport expire?", "How much do I spend on streaming?", "Who's our plumber?", "When did I last change the HVAC filter?", "What's Sam allergic to?" You can also tell it what to do: "Remind me to call the dentist tomorrow at 10", "Add Spotify $11.99 monthly", "I changed the filter" or "Mark the water bill paid". Cason asks before it changes anything.

Does Cason send my questions anywhere?

No. Cason works out its answers on your iPhone, from your records, on every iPhone. Speech is turned into text on the iPhone, and answers are read aloud with your iPhone's own voices. On iPhone 15 Pro and newer, Premium can also use Apple Intelligence on the device for questions Cason doesn't recognize.

Can I use it with Siri or the Action button?

Yes. Say "Hey Siri, ask Cason" and then your question, or "Hey Siri, Cason brief me" for the brief. To open Cason listening from the Action button, Control Center or the Lock Screen, choose the "Talk to Cason" shortcut in iPhone Settings › Action Button, or add it in the Shortcuts app.

How do I hear answers out loud, or turn that off?

Tap the speaker button at the top of the Ask screen. Tap Listen on the brief to hear it. For a more natural voice, download an enhanced or premium voice in iPhone Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices.

Your home's history and your family's records

What goes in the home history?

Repairs, upgrades, inspections, paint colors and materials, with the date, who did the work, what it cost and any warranty. Appliances and systems you've added in Home appear on the timeline too. In Home, tap the house at the top to add its address, year built and size.

What's the home report?

A PDF of the house's whole story: the house, its systems and appliances, every improvement and repair, paint colors and the upkeep record. Hand it to a buyer, an appraiser, an insurer or a contractor. You choose whether it includes costs and contractor contacts. It's part of Premium.

Where do health records go, and who can see them?

Open a person in Vault › Household to add visits, vaccines, medicines, tests and growth, with follow-up reminders. They stay on your iPhone like everything else. Premium makes a one-page health summary for a new doctor, a school form or a sitter, and the Emergency Binder lists current medicines and recent vaccines.

What is "your year at home"?

Each December and January, Today shows a short look back at the year: what you handled, what you put into the house, what you stopped paying for and what you kept. You can share a picture of the numbers only. Find it any time in Settings › Look back.

Backups and new iPhones

How do I make sure I never lose my records?

Two ways, and using both is best. First, if your iPhone's iCloud Backup is on, Cason is included (you can turn this off in Settings › Privacy center). Second, make a locked backup file in Settings › Back up, restore and export, and save it somewhere you control, such as iCloud Drive, a computer or a USB drive. Write the password down: nobody, including us, can open the file without it.

How do I move Cason to a new iPhone?

Restoring your new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup brings Cason along. Or install Cason on the new iPhone, open your locked backup file from Files or Mail, choose Cason, and enter the password.

Can my spouse and I see the same records?

Each iPhone keeps its own records; there is no shared cloud copy, which is part of what keeps them private. To hand information over, share the Emergency Binder PDF or a locked backup file, and they can restore it on their iPhone ("Add what's missing" keeps anything already there). Premium's Family Sharing means you only pay once for the whole family.

Premium

What does Premium cost?

$39.99 a year with a two-week free trial, $5.99 a month, or $99.99 once for life (US prices; other countries vary). Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Tasks, reminders, home upkeep, the daily brief, Face ID lock, widgets, Siri, backups and exports stay free.

How do I cancel or change my subscription?

On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Cason. Or open Cason's Settings and tap Manage subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. Your records stay put either way.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles refunds. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and choose Cason.

Premium isn't showing on my iPhone or my family's.

In Cason, open Settings and tap Restore purchases. For family members, Family Sharing must be on and set to share purchases (iPhone Settings › your name › Family Sharing › Purchase Sharing). It can take a few minutes to appear on their iPhones.

Privacy and security

Where is my information stored?

Only on your iPhone, in Cason's private storage, encrypted by iOS and sealed whenever the iPhone is locked. Cason has no servers and no accounts. See the privacy policy for details.

How can I check that Cason doesn't send my data anywhere?

Turn on App Privacy Report in iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security, use Cason for a while, then look up Cason in the report. It shouldn't have contacted any domains.

I forgot my Emergency Binder or backup password.

Those passwords are never stored anywhere, so they can't be recovered. Make a new binder or a new backup with a new password; your records in Cason aren't affected.

How do I delete everything?

In Cason, open Settings › Your data › Erase everything. Deleting the app also removes its data from your iPhone.

Apple Intelligence

Which iPhones get the Apple Intelligence extras?

iPhone 15 Pro and newer, with Apple Intelligence turned on in iPhone Settings. On other iPhones Cason works the same, with the brief and quick-add handled by Cason's own on-device logic.

Cason organizes what you enter and reminds you about it. It isn't financial, legal, medical or insurance advice.
